PE (Polyethylene)
Classification
- Plastic
Feature
Polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic polymer consisting of long hydrocarbon chains.
Its mechanical properties depend on variables such as the extent and type of branching, the crystal structure and the molecular weight.
It is classified into several different categories based on its density and branching.
(High-density polyethylene, Low-density polyethylene, Very-low-density polyethylene, Linear polyethylene, Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene).
It has excellent chemical resistance, water resistance, mechanical properties and formability. It is electrical insulator allowing static charge to accumulate.
PE extrusions are mainly used for wire-coatings and guide rails.
